One vintage Japanese woodblock print, produced in the mid-20th century by the famous Uchida Art Company of Kyoto. Printed by "Uchiumi".
The print depicts a bijin (beautiful woman) or geisha walking through a serene winter landscape. She wears an elegant dark kimono decorated with small floral motifs, treading carefully past a traditional bamboo fence while walking under a snow-covered plum blossom tree with red buds.
It is executed in the shin-hanga (new prints) style, which modernized classical ukiyo-e themes while maintaining traditional multi-block printing techniques.
Dating from the 1950s, the frame measures 10 3/4” tall by 8 3/4” wide by 1” thick and has a sawtooth hanger on the reverse for hanging.
It remains inside its classic period matte border and black wood frame, accented with an inner gold trim typical of mid-century gallery presentation.
Needs a thorough cleaning. One nick to the lower front frame but the print and mats are in beautiful condition.
