The figure is depicted in a dynamic, mid-gallop pose with its head raised and mouth open, one front leg extended and the other bent. The body is richly decorated in vibrant cloisonné enamel on a bright yellow ground, featuring intricate, multi-colored floral and scrolling vine motifs in shades of blue, red, green, purple, and white. The horse has applied gilt-bronze details for its flowing mane, tail, and hooves. A distinctive feature is the base, which is cast in gilt bronze as a stylized swallow in flight, supporting the horse's weight. This motif is a classic reference to the famous "Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow" design. The piece exhibits a rich, aged patina with the enamel showing minor wear and the gilding displaying a warm luster.
