This vintage Jewish ritual Kiddush beaker is crafted from solid sterling silver, featuring a flared lip and classic unstemmed tumbler form. The body displays hand-engraved wrigglework (rocking-chisel / zigzag) chasing, depicting a prominent Star of David (Magen David) on one face and a stylized arch/cartouche enclosing the hand-engraved monogram initials "A N" on the opposite side. The underside of the base is clearly stamped with the incised purity mark "STERLING".
Historical Provenance & Design Significance:
This mid-century sterling silver Kiddush beaker represents the clean, unstemmed form favored in traditional Jewish ritual drinking vessels, combined with American bench-made wrigglework engraving. The geometric hand-chased Star of David (Magen David) and framed cartouche showcase folk-craft bench techniques applied to ceremonial silverwork, offering both cultural significance and Mid-Century decorative charm.
Curator’s Note:
A charming mid-century sterling silver beaker featuring delicate hand-engraved zigzag tooling and a classic Star of David motif. With its warm silver patina, compact proportions, and clean silhouette, this piece serves beautifully as a refined decorative accent on a Shabbat table tray, styled within a Judaica display case, or repurposed as a luxurious vanity tumbler or desk accent.
