A captivating original oil portrait attributed to H. Bruce Carr, an artist associated with Hobe Sound, Florida, known for his eclectic artistic creations, including folk art, found-object works, and traditional paintings.
This intimate portrait depicts a thoughtful woman wearing a beautiful golden-yellow wide-brimmed hat. Her expressive eyes, softly rendered features, and the painterly combination of warm earth tones and muted greens create a wonderfully evocative composition. Rich texture and loose, confident brushwork lend the portrait an Impressionist quality.
Of particular interest is its provenance. Although Carr sold many of his paintings during his lifetime, this portrait remained in his personal collection and was subsequently acquired from his estate. The identity of the sitter is unknown, adding a touch of mystery to this charming work.
The painting is presented in its original custom frame, featuring a softly distressed ivory finish and complementary fabric liner. The framing has recently been professionally refreshed by the same craftswoman who originally framed the artwork, preserving its distinctive presentation.
