This is a finely crafted antique polychrome bronze sculpture of Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, depicted in the "Royal Ease" (lalitasana) posture. The figure is seated with one leg pendant and the other tucked in, resting her right hand upon her raised knee in a relaxed, contemplative gesture. She wears flowing robes in deep green and red, accented with a blue-green sash draped over her shoulder. Her chest is adorned with an elaborate silver-toned beaded necklace, and she wears a tall, ornate crown featuring a prominent red central jewel. The figure has a gilded face with downcast eyes and red lips, and her black hair falls in strands over her shoulders. The sculpture is extensively gilded, retaining a warm gold luster with a natural, aged patina in the recesses.
