Bring storied history, organic texture, and global character to your space with this beautiful antique Chinese wooden wedding or rice bucket. Handcrafted using traditional staved vertical wood panels, this round bucket features its original, deeply aged red lacquer finish over a dark, rich interior.
A wonderful hidden feature rests directly on the underside of the lid: a beautifully preserved, hand-inked graphic emblem depicting a dragonfly amidst floral details, enclosed within a scalloped ruyi cloud border. In Chinese culture, the dragonfly is a celebrated symbol of harmony, good fortune, and agility, making this a particularly meaningful piece. Complete with a fixed high-arched structural handle and a tight-fitting convex lid, it stands out as a gorgeous sculptural centerpiece or unique decorative storage container for modern traditional, organic modern, or bohemian interiors.

The piece shows natural splitting and separation between some of the vertical wood staves alongside superficial surface wear, rubbing, and historic scuffs to the red lacquer finish, all consistent with significant age and historic utilitarian use. The structural form remains stable, the fixed handle is secure, and the lid fits snugly in place. less
