This is an antique opium pipe, a traditional smoking implement featuring a long, carved bone or ivory-colored shaft. The cylindrical body is finely incised with black-ink landscape scenes, depicting pavilions, trees, and figures in a mountainous setting. The pipe is fitted with several ornate silver-metal mounts and bands. The central saddle is decorated with a high-relief dragon motif, and it supports the removable, black-patinated stone or wood bowl with a brass fitting at its top. The mouthpiece and end cap are also made of a dark, polished material, contrasting with the lighter carved shaft. The piece exhibits a rich, aged patina across all materials, making it a striking example of antique tobacciana and traditional craftsmanship.
