An exceptionally rare, large-scale (14.5" / 37 cm) glass platter from the iconic Marcel series, designed by master designer Timo Sarpaneva for Iittala in 1991–1992. Originally created for the official residence of the President of Finland (Mäntyniemi) and reserved primarily for diplomatic embassy use and special orders, this extra-large serving platter / charger plate is a true statement piece of modern Scandinavian glass art.

Design & Provenance:

The Marcel series is renowned for its sculptural form, clean architectural lines, and frosted crystalline base that beautifully plays with light. While smaller standard dinner and salad plates were commercially produced, this oversized 37 cm platter was produced in extremely limited quantities.
