This finely carved vintage soapstone sculpture depicts a traditional mountainous landscape scene in high relief. The composition features a group of figures dressed in flowing robes, gathered amongst gnarled pine trees, rocky outcrops, and pavilions. The stone exhibits a rich, warm amber-yellow tone with natural variations in color and veining, characteristic of aged soapstone, and rests upon a custom-fitted black wooden stand. This piece is a striking example of traditional stone carving and makes a distinguished decorative accent or addition to a collection of Asian antiques.
