About the Designer / Maker

D’Argenta is a Mexican decorative arts company recognized for its distinctive handcrafted sculptures finished in precious metals, particularly silver and 24-karat gold. The firm is known for highly detailed animal sculptures and contemporary decorative objects, combining traditional metalworking techniques with bold, luxurious finishes. This sculpture was designed by Enrique Jolly Prieto (1932–2000), a noted Mexican sculptor whose work included both figurative and animal subjects. Jolly was an important Latin American exponent of animal sculpture, and won awards for his sculpture at exhibitions sponsored by the Mexican-American Institute for Cultural Relations in 1984 and 1995. He also exhibited throughout Mexico and internationally and taught art, anatomy, sculpture and design.

About the Item

This impressive D’Argenta / Jolly leopard sculpture depicts a reclining big cat resting dramatically across a richly textured tree branch. The leopard is finished in brilliant silver plate, with recessed spots providing striking contrast against the highly polished body. Measuring approximately 24" L × 10" H × 12" D, this is a substantial statement piece with strong presence from every angle. The sculpture bears the D’Argenta Mexico mark, and is individually numbered 272/500, confirming its production as part of a limited edition of 500. Also signed by the artist. See less
