A spectacular Rococo Revival sofa with an exceptionally ornate carved frame, dramatic pierced crest, and sweeping serpentine silhouette.
The frame features elaborate scrolling acanthus and floral motifs throughout, finished in a beautifully aged antique gold tone. The unusually tall central crest and openwork carving continue across the back, apron, arms, and cabriole-style legs, giving the sofa extraordinary architectural presence from every angle.
Upholstered in soft ivory-white fabric with three removable seat cushions that have been filled with down for a plush, comfortable seat. Decorative trim follows the sculptural contours of the upholstery and frame.
A wonderfully theatrical statement piece with strong Louis XV and French Rococo influence ideal for a maximalist, romantic, Hollywood Regency, European-inspired, or collected interior.
The upholstery has been cleaned and will receive an additional cleaning prior to sale. Vintage condition with age-appropriate wear, including areas of patina and finish variation to the frame and signs of use to the upholstery. Please review photographs closely.
