A dynamic Mid-Century Modern abstract cityscape depicting the Midtown Manhattan skyline viewed across the East River, likely painted from the vantage point of Long Island City or Queens. Rendered with thick impasto, layered palette knife strokes, and bold structural lines, the focal point features a prominent, spired skyscraper silhouette reminiscent of the Chrysler Building surrounded by Midtown high-rises. The foreground features a expressive, textured blue field depicting the East River, balanced by primary color blocking in vivid red, yellow, emerald green, and deep black. The painting is executed on a period M. Grumbacher Paint-Tested Genuine Canvas Panel No. 634 (New York, N.Y.), providing excellent provenance and era authenticity for collectors of Mid-Century Modern (MCM) and New York School art. The painting measures 20" wide by 16" high. Unframed and unsigned. Mid-20th Century (c. 1950s–1960s).
