Manufactured by the Central Glass Company, this striking piece was designed to celebrate the 1892 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago.

Its production run was notoriously short-lived: within months of hitting the market, the U.S. Treasury Department declared the realistic currency molds a violation of federal counterfeiting laws and forced the manufacturer to destroy them.

This specific piece is a fully verified 19th-century original—not a mid-century reproduction. It features crisp vertical fluting above a band of beautifully molded coin medallions dated 1892, with the historically accurate design featuring NO banner above the eagle's head. Its antique manganese-clarified composition yields a gorgeous, characteristic fluorescence under UV light.

With its brilliant clarity, structural presence, and fascinating backstory, it serves as a phenomenal conversation piece for designers, history buffs, and glass collectors alike.
