Vintage French brass two-arm wall sconce with elegant neoclassical detailing, likely dating from the mid-20th century.
A wall light constructed in cast brass, with two sweeping candle-style arms arranged around an architectural central body. The design draws on the French Louis XVI and Empire traditions, with fluted ornament, stylised foliage, beaded borders, scrolling arms and an urn-like finial.
The brass has a warm golden tone with subtle age-related patina and surface wear. The original-style candle sleeves show visible wear and discoloration consistent with age.
The reverse bears the cast inscription “MOD. DEP. BRE.”, indicating a registered/protected model. No maker's name has been identified.
A decorative wall light particularly suited to traditional, French country, château-inspired or layered interiors. Its relatively large scale and sculptural brasswork give it considerable presence on the wall.
