Mid-20th-century hand-painted carnival ride or haunted house wall panel depicting a dramatic drishti bommai, a protective figure associated with South Indian and Hindu traditions and intended to ward off the evil eye. Painted in a bold palette of black, cream, red, and yellow, the highly stylized face features wide concentric eyes, prominent curved horns, gold-tone earrings, large fangs, an extended red tongue, and a crown-like row of flames across the forehead. The image is painted directly onto a thin metal panel and mounted to a wooden framework on the reverse, suggesting its original use as a large-scale decorative element for a carnival, amusement, or haunted attraction.
