A beautifully crafted Chinese hexagonal box, likely made of Zitan wood. The piece features a faceted, domed lid that opens to reveal a spacious, unlined interior. The top surface is exquisitely decorated with intricate mother-of-pearl (shell) inlay, depicting a lively scene of mythical Buddhist lions (foo dogs) playing with a brocade ball amidst stylized clouds, surrounded by smaller lions around the border. A sophisticated piece for storing jewelry, seals, or other small treasures.
