Based on the signature location and the vibrant thick strokes, this piece aligns with the style of Edward Barton. He was an American artist known for his textured palette knife seascapes and harbor scenes that frequently feature a distinctive red block letter signature in the bottom corner reading ‘Barton’.
This piece has two dates of August 1975 on the back - one on the frame and one on the canvas, and I assume this was when it was first sold. The painting measures 9.5x7.5 inches and overall in the frame it measures 18x16 inches. See less
