Crafted from dense, dark hardwood (zitan or rosewood style), the rectangular lid features a deep, high-relief carving of a classic Chinese scene: "Fish in a Lotus Pond" (连年有余 - Lián nián yǒu yú).

Key Features:

Auspicious Motif: The carving depicts vibrant red fish swimming among lotus leaves and flowers. In Chinese culture, "fish" (yu) is a homophone for "abundance" or "surplus," making this a symbol of continuous prosperity and good fortune year after year.

High-Relief Carving: The scene is deeply carved, creating a wonderful three-dimensional texture. The red-painted details of the fish and flowers stand out vividly against the dark, almost black wood background.

Rich Patina: The wood shows a deep, aged patina with natural grain, giving the box a sophisticated, antique feel.

Vintage Hardware: The front features a traditional circular brass lock plate (hasp) with an aged patina. (Note: No key is included; the latch is for closure).

Spacious Storage: At 28 cm long, this box is perfect for storing jewelry, important documents, tea accessories, or as a decorative statement piece on a desk or console. See less
