A beautiful and refined vintage Chinese brush pot (Bitong), handcrafted from warm-toned Huali wood. This exquisite scholar's item features a square, open-frame design with a base and top connected by turned pillars and intricate openwork carved "meander" (Greek key) borders.
The removable inner panels are beautifully painted with the traditional "Four Gentlemen" subjects — the Plum Blossom, Orchid, Bamboo, and Chrysanthemum — accompanied by elegant Chinese calligraphy. The paintings feature vibrant colors of red, green, and gold against the natural wood grain.
Weighing only 383 grams, this piece is both decorative and functional. It is perfectly sized to hold a collection of calligraphy brushes, pens, or makeup brushes. An authentic piece of Chinese scholar's art that adds elegance and cultural charm to any desk, shelf, or vanity.
