The box is constructed from richly toned wood with attractive natural grain and beautifully executed dovetail corner joints, a detail that gives this relatively small piece a particularly well-made and substantial appearance. The fitted sliding lid is decorated with a rendered Republic of the Philippines coat of arms, prominently displayed at the center and giving the box its distinctive character.

Adding to its vintage appeal, the underside retains an original paper Internal Revenue label, an interesting period detail that speaks to the box's original use and history.
