The composition depicts a quiet snow-covered woodland with a reflective stream winding through bare trees, rendered in muted gray, cream, olive and warm peach tones. Jespersen is particularly associated in the auction record with winter woods, streams and Scandinavian landscape subjects. The painting is signed 'V. Jespersen' at the lower right and is presented in a warm brown and gilt-toned wood frame. The surface shows expressive impasto, broad brushwork and age-related craquelure consistent with an older oil painting. See less
