Shikki, Japanese lacquer box in fine makie technique, likely Meiji period, probably made of Japanese wood. Depicts a crane with a bamboo motif, with a signature/mark inside. These lacquerware pieces were traditionally made at sea, as only there were the dust-free conditions essential for the delicate lacquerwork.
