The present work is an unsigned, undated oil painting on canvas (according to the original label on the reverse: "Oil L.w., unsign., undst.") entitled "Interior with Woman at Window" measuring 52 × 43.5 cm. It depicts a lady in a long blue dress, sitting in a rocking chair reading in a middle-class home; the clothing and furnishings suggest a date of origin between 1910 and 1930. The warm light from the window in the background, framed by light, transparent curtains, falls on the figure absorbed in her reading and lends the scene an intimate, tranquil atmosphere. On the windowsill are flowering potted plants in vibrant red and yellow, providing a splash of color against the muted gray-green of the wallpapered walls. The foreground is dominated by an oval table with a richly ornamented tablecloth and an oriental rug. In the background on the left, a curved dressing table with a mirror is visible, upon which stand small vases of spring flowers. The painting style is academic realism with impressionistic lighting effects—highly skilled and expertly executed, with subtle differentiation of the textiles and convincing spatial depth.
