The exceptionally restrained geometric construction reflects the Functionalist approach that shaped Czechoslovak furniture and interiors through the interwar and early post-war periods. Traditional slotted screw construction and the carefully inset glass top are characteristic of its period manufacture.

Its original function is unknown, although its proportions suggest use as an étagère, serving stand or occasional display table. Today it works equally well as a side table, bedside table or compact display piece.
