Drawing on Kerman Lavar rugs, this archaic piece of art exhibiting an old-world charm, features beige underscores rich and playful colors in a depiction of two men in chairs—possibly soldiers, given their particular formal attire—on opposite sides of floral patterns matching the reds and greens of field and border alike.

Connoisseurs may further admire the subtle sense of movement that its color variations lend the geometry—a subdued, but intriguing departure from traditional area rugs of its period. It’s a fine play of rustic motifs in a reserved, sophisticated manner, and its large size offers vast design applications today.
