Antique French Tramp Art mirror, circa 1900. We love its generous size and the intricate designs and graphics on its frame.
Entirely handcrafted, the wood carving is typical of Tramp Art, a naive, handcrafted art form prevalent in the 19th century. Small diamond-point details elegantly embellish the frame. Two shades of wood create a beautiful contrast.
The geometric patterns and layered effect add volume to the piece, creating a very elegant effect.
The mirror has some pitting, attesting to its authenticity.
The backing has been protected in places; some tape is visible.
It hangs on the back with a string.
In good overall condition, with patina and imperfections due to its age, including a few minor losses. Please refer to the numerous photos.
- Overall dimensions - W 74 x H 87 x D 7 cm
Dimensions of the mirror alone - 46 x 69 cm
