Celebrated for its harmonious proportions and utilitarian elegance, this single-unit chest features the iconic drop-front lower panel—traditionally used in Korean households for the easy storage of heavy bedding and textiles—crowned by a row of four practical accessory drawers across the top. The facade is constructed from finely selected Korean elmwood (Zelkova), showcasing a dramatic, flame-like grain pattern beneath a rich honey-toned natural translucent lacquer. The geometric grid layout of the paneled framework creates a striking architectural rhythm, which is beautifully punctuated by a symmetrical arrangement of white brass (paktong) or nickel-alloy hardware plates, incised hinges, and geometric corner reinforcements.
