Founder of the legendary Parisian fashion house in 1945, Balmain was a leading figure in fashion and costume design during the second half of the 20th century.
Between the 1960s and 1980s, alongside other major names in French fashion such as Christian Dior and Pierre Cardin, Balmain explored the world of interior design. Unlike his peers, however, he did not create mass-produced lines, opting instead to sign very few exceptional pieces with a focus on absolute craftsmanship, premium materials, and flawless finishes. This extremely limited production makes his furniture rare, hard to find on the antique market, and highly sought after by international collectors.
