Handcrafted from a massive, highly sought-after Live-Edge California Buckeye Burl cross-section, this titled and signed coffee table stands as an elite piece of living, functional sculpture.


Originating from the epicenter of the 1970s California Artisan Movement, this table possesses an extraordinary, dramatic silhouette reminiscent of a wild mushroom or a stylized tree canopy.


The top surface displays a complex, lace-like web of natural voids, intricate black spalted growth lines, and dense, shimmering burl clusters.


Rather than utilizing modern detached metal hairpin or block legs, the master craftsman elevated this piece by mounting it to a fully matching, organic live-edge flaring wood-root base. 


A heavy-duty, period-correct structural mounting plate secures the base to the slab top, ensuring absolute stability despite its asymmetric, freeform shape.


The table is preserved in a highly desirable, period-correct tactile matte poly-oil/lacquer finish. It beautifully accentuates the rich golden-amber tones and dramatic textures of the raw wood, completely avoiding the thick, yellowing plastic look of later 1980s epoxy.
