Beautifully proportioned and remarkably versatile, the table begins as an elegant 47.5-inch round dining table and expands with two removable rosewood leaves to an impressive 86.5-inch oval dining table, providing nearly 40 additional inches of dining surface when fully extended.

The rosewood is particularly beautiful. Dramatic bookmatched grain moves across the tabletop in deep chocolate, burgundy and warm reddish-brown tones, with the characteristic dark veining for which vintage rosewood Danish furniture is so desirable. The rounded perimeter is finished with a substantial sculpted rosewood edge that gives the tabletop a softer, almost floating appearance.

Beneath, a pair of architectural pedestal supports terminates in gracefully curved feet. Rather than employing conventional straight legs, the base transitions fluidly from vertical supports into sweeping horizontal feet, creating a sculptural profile from every angle.

The expanding construction is equally thoughtful. When configured as a round table, the pedestal bases visually nest together beneath the center. As the table is extended, the bases separate with the tabletop, providing balanced support beneath the considerably longer dining surface.

Two original matching extension leaves are included, each measuring approximately 19.5 inches wide. With both installed, the table extends from a compact 47.5-inch round form to approximately 86.5 inches in length—making it equally suited to intimate everyday dining or considerably larger gatherings.

The underside retains the original Faarup Møbelfabrik / Made in Denmark manufacturer's label, definitively identifying its Danish manufacture.

Faarup Møbelfabrik produced high-quality Danish Modern furniture during the postwar period and is particularly associated with beautifully constructed teak and rosewood case pieces and tables. The company worked with several notable Danish designers, although we have intentionally left the designer attribution of this particular table unspecified because secondary-market sources differ in their attribution of closely related Faarup dining-table designs.

A superb example of vintage Danish craftsmanship, combining spectacular rosewood, sculptural form and genuinely useful expandable construction.

Condition Description
Very good vintage condition consistent with age and use. The table presents beautifully overall and retains a rich, lustrous rosewood finish with striking grain throughout. Light scattered surface wear, minor scratches, small marks and edge wear are present consistent with vintage use. The extension mechanism is intact and both matching leaves are included. The underside exhibits expected age and construction-related wear not visible when in use.
