An exceptional antique French Linetaine Paris musical mantel clock, dating to the 19th century. This elaborate architectural clock is richly mounted with gilt bronze in the Neoclassical/Louis XVI taste, with a white marble or alabaster case, beaded borders, floral garlands, bird-form ornament, and elegant columns embellished with gilt-bronze vines.
The white porcelain dial is fitted with black Roman numerals and two winding apertures, housed within a detailed gilt-bronze bezel. Above the dial is an urn-form finial with gilt-bronze floral and foliate mounts. The lower section contains a visible music-box mechanism behind an ornate gilt-bronze floral-grille panel, creating a remarkable combination of timepiece, sculpture, and musical automaton.
