A striking vintage Bohemian-style table lamp crafted from richly saturated cobalt-blue overlay glass and elaborately cut through to clear, creating a jewel-like play of color, pattern and reflected light.
The substantial one-piece glass body combines a tall baluster-form stem with a broad circular foot. Its architectural silhouette is enlivened by multiple registers of hand-cut decoration, including oval lens cuts, fan-shaped scallops, geometric star and diamond motifs, and a repeating band of hexagonal medallions.
Across the foot, generous radial petal cuts form a dramatic sunburst pattern around the base of the stem. These broad polished facets reveal the clear glass beneath the cobalt layer and capture surrounding light with exceptional brilliance. Additional clear-cut accents climb the stem, giving the lamp a layered, almost gem-set appearance from every angle.
The deeply saturated cobalt provides a vivid focal point without sacrificing versatility. Its clear geometric cutting introduces brightness and visual rhythm, allowing the lamp to work beautifully in interiors ranging from collected traditional and Grandmillennial to Hollywood Regency, maximalist and eclectic.
For a designer, this lamp offers an especially useful combination of compact scale, strong color and sculptural presence. Place it on a diminutive chest, writing desk, bedside table, bar cabinet or bookshelf where its detailed cutting can be appreciated at close range.
It would be particularly compelling styled with blue-and-white porcelain, dark lacquer, antique brass, gilt frames, mahogany furniture, chintz, block-printed textiles and richly layered artwork. In a quieter room, the cobalt glass can serve as a single concentrated note of color against ivory, parchment, tobacco brown or soft celadon.
Because the shade is not included, the final presentation may be tailored to the setting. A petite ivory silk or parchment shade would give the lamp a refined classical profile, while a gathered or pleated block-print shade would emphasize its expressive designer character. Final shade proportions should be selected to complement the lamp’s 6½-inch-wide base.
The brass-toned neck and socket hardware retain pronounced vintage patina, lending a warm counterpoint to the brilliant blue glass. A clear cord with an ivory rotary-wheel inline on/off switch completes the electrical assembly.
A distinctive vintage lighting accent combining the saturated color of cobalt overlay glass, crisp cut-to-clear decoration and a wonderfully versatile decorator scale.
ATTRIBUTION, MATERIAL AND DATING
The lamp is unmarked, and no surviving factory label or maker’s signature was observed. Its cobalt overlay construction, polished cut-to-clear decoration, geometric patterning and baluster-form profile are characteristic of Bohemian-style glass lighting associated with Czechoslovakian production during the later 20th century.
Comparable overlay glass was also produced elsewhere in Central and Eastern Europe. The Czechoslovakian attribution and circa-1970s–1990s date should therefore be understood as informed stylistic assessments rather than documented factory identification.
The glass has not been laboratory tested for lead content and is cataloged conservatively as cobalt overlay glass rather than lead crystal. The brass-toned socket is marked Leviton; this identifies the electrical component and does not establish the maker of the glass body.

Good vintage condition. The cobalt cut-to-clear glass body presents beautifully and remains structurally sound, without observed significant chips, cracks or structural repairs. The polished surfaces display minor scattered marks, tiny inclusions and light signs of handling consistent with age and use. The underside is polished and unmarked. The electrical cord exits through an intentionally ground channel at the edge of the glass foot. The brass-toned socket and neck hardware display substantial oxidation, tarnish, finish loss and age-related discoloration. Irregular solder-like or filler material is visible around the neck assembly and may reflect earlier stabilization, assembly work or hardware servicing; the lamp has not been disassembled to determine its precise origin. The clear cord has an ivory rotary-wheel inline on/off switch. The switch housing displays visible cracking, separation, discoloration and surface wear. The switch functions as a simple on/off control and is not a dimmer. The lamp has been tested and is functioning at the time of listing. Because of the visible wear to the inline switch and the age of the electrical components, professional inspection and replacement of the switch or rewiring are recommended before extended use. A harp saddle is present, but the removable harp is not included. Shade, bulb, harp and finial are not included. Please review all photographs closely, particularly the glass cutting, underside, cord channel, socket assembly, neck hardware, inline switch, cord and plug.
