Each … Read more A striking pair of vintage Chinese cloisonné ginger jars featuring richly colored enamel decoration against a deep cobalt-blue ground.

Each lidded vessel is decorated on one side with large red peony blossoms surrounded by vivid green foliage and delicate flowering branches. The reverse features an especially charming scene of blue birds perched among pink and white flowering branches. Fine repeating wirework patterns fill the cobalt ground, with decorative borders at the neck and foot.

The removable domed lids continue the floral decoration and are finished with brass-toned pointed finials. Brass-toned rims and foot bands provide a warm contrast to the saturated enamel colors.

Beautiful displayed from either direction, this matched pair has substantial decorative presence and would work especially well in a Chinoiserie, traditional, Asian-inspired or collected interior.
