A sophisticated pair of contemporary wall sconces attributed to Los Angeles designer Paul Marra, dating to circa 2020–2021. The sconces are unmarked; the design has been identified through examples published on Paul Marra’s Instagram page.
Each sconce features a strong architectural frame in a dark bronze finish, formed with a rectangular wall plate and an elegantly curved arm that projects forward to support the light. The restrained geometry gives the pair a distinctly modern profile while retaining the warmth and craftsmanship associated with custom decorative lighting.
Particularly noteworthy are the original cylindrical linen shades. Each shade is finished with prominent hand-stitched brown leather or leather-like lacing, creating a graphic cross-stitch detail against the natural off-white linen. This artisanal element softens the sculptural metalwork and gives the sconces a tailored, highly decorative character.
The combination of dark bronze, natural linen and hand-applied stitching makes these sconces exceptionally versatile for interior designers. Their relatively compact scale allows them to function beautifully flanking a mirror, artwork, fireplace or architectural opening, while their 10-inch projection gives them enough presence for larger residential and hospitality interiors. They would be particularly effective in a sophisticated entry, library, powder room, bedroom, dressing room or intimate dining space.
