The pitcher features a textured gray salt-glazed surface decorated by hand in rich cobalt blue. A large stylized bird and foliate design wraps around the rounded body, with additional cobalt decoration around the upper portion and handle.

Its tall cylindrical neck, generously rounded body, applied handle and slightly pinched pouring rim give the piece wonderful sculptural presence. At approximately 11 inches tall, it displays beautifully on its own or incorporated into a collection of American studio and folk pottery.

The front bears the impressed Rowe Pottery Works, Cambridge, Wisconsin maker’s mark.

A handsome example of Rowe’s interpretation of traditional American blue-decorated stoneware and an especially versatile piece for traditional, farmhouse or collected interiors. See less
