An original period Volchrome color lithograph after Marion Kavanagh Wachtel’s celebrated California landscape “The Oaks,” circa 1917. The work depicts the Santa Paula Valley beneath the last sunlight touching the distant mountains, framed by a grove of mature California oaks.
Wachtel was a prominent California watercolorist associated with the Arts and Crafts movement and was particularly admired for her atmospheric landscapes of Southern California. This large-format print retains the composition’s rich blue-green palette and luminous mountain background.
