Set of Four Original Solid Walnut Chairs from the 1960s
This refined set of four dining chairs from the 1960s represents an exemplary combination of the solidity of postwar Italian craftsmanship and the grace of neoclassical lines.
Crafted entirely from fine solid walnut, the chairs are distinguished by a slender and elegant silhouette. The high, contoured backrest features a continuous arch profile that houses a refined perforated decoration in the shape of an inverted teardrop (or "lyre") at its center, a clean geometric detail that lends visual lightness to the entire structure. The natural warmth of walnut emerges clearly through the exposed grain, enhanced by a glossy finish that gives depth and body to the raw material.
The slightly curved front legs, reminiscent of the classic style of period cabinetmaking, connect to the seat with delicate floral carvings carved into the wood. The rear legs, on the other hand, slope down with a straight, slightly curved line to ensure maximum stability and balanced support.
The seat is generously padded and upholstered in cream/ivory faux leather (or vinyl), a glossy shade that creates a sharp and captivating contrast with the dark, enveloping tones of the walnut. The lower edge of the upholstery is finished along the entire perimeter with a series of exposed, round-headed gold metal studs, adding a vintage, authentic touch of character.
Versatile and timeless, these chairs fit perfectly in both a classic, formal dining room and as a contrasting, vintage-inspired element in a contemporary or modern setting.
