Astori's work for driade — from oikos in 1972 through kaos in the following decades — reframed the bookshelf and wall unit as an open, reconfigurable architecture rather than a fixed object, a research direction that placed driade among the leading italian producers of componibile furniture through the 1980s and 1990s.

this example is built on a wall-mounted aluminum track system with five uprights supporting adjustable brackets, from which run aluminum shelves, a black lacquered metal magazine/document rack insert, and a wood writing shelf carried on two folding v-shaped metal supports. The composition spans l 224 x p 62 x h 186 cm, and the shelf heights and depths can be reconfigured along the tracks — the modularity that defines the system rather than a fixed, one-off layout.
