Inspired by her travels to Turkey, the artist has depicted familial scenes: A large picnic area and an urban beach in Antalya (Konyaaltı Beach). People of different faiths and lifestyles, peacefully together and side by side, religious and non-religious, with or without headscarves, dressed or in bikinis.
In her artistic work, Engeln explores multifaceted themes inspired by travel observations in her paintings and prints. She investigates the tension between balance and disruption and addresses the beauty and vulnerability of our world. Since 2012, she has complemented her paintings with multi-colored woodcuts and screen prints, allowing her to create playful and associative collages of various motifs.
Each print varies and is characterized through its uniqueness.
