Antique modular faux-mahogany two-stack bookcase.
In the early 20th century, a handful of manufacturers dominated the library furniture market-and Globe-Wernicke was among the most iconic. Best known for their modular stacking systems, the company offered entire catalogs showcasing the endless configurations available to libraries and offices alike.
This particular example features a double-stack design: the upper section displays geometric embellishments across its compartment fronts, while the lower tier offers a more minimal, open-faced profile. Each segment connects securely using original brass clips and interlocking straps, designed to keep the entire unit stable and intact-a hallmark of Globe-Wernicke's thoughtful engineering.
