Broad horizontal planes evoke blue-grey water bordered by chalky banks and deep green and brown territories.

The landscape is intentionally left undefined. Its simplified forms may suggest shorelines, cultivated fields or an aerial view of an imagined territory. Subtle traces of red emerge along the irregular horizon, bringing energy to the restrained palette.

Successive layers of oil paint, palette-knife marks and scraped passages give the surface a tactile character. Moving between landscape and abstraction, the painting explores the relationship between color, matter and the structure of the land.
