This rare and elegant minimalist floor lamp, model 6332, was designed by Wim Rietveld and manufactured by Gispen in Culemborg, The Netherlands in 1955. The lamp is part of the same series as Rietveld’s celebrated Panama series (model 6350), yet this version distinguishes itself with a smaller, conical shade that gives it a more refined and restrained silhouette. Its design exemplifies Rietveld’s approach to functionalism, pure, balanced, and without unnecessary ornament, a style that continues to define the post-war Dutch design identity. The lamp features a striking original Gispen green shade, a rare and highly desirable color that adds a subtle yet distinct character to its otherwise neutral composition. The adjustable arm and counterbalanced design allow for multiple lighting positions, making it suitable for use as both a reading lamp and an uplighter. Every element is purposefully designed: the black plastic counterweight at the end of the arm provides balance, while the slender tubular frame maintains an elegant lightness of form. The off-white painted metal base is weighted to ensure stability without compromising the lamp’s minimalist profile. Its simplicity hides a technical sophistication that makes it extremely versatile in daily use, a hallmark of Rietveld’s industrial design philosophy. The lamp remains in very nice original condition, showing only gentle wear consistent with age, preserving its authentic 1950s patina. Wim Rietveld, son of Gerrit Rietveld, brought a strong industrial logic to Dutch design, focusing on affordable, functional products for modern living. His collaboration with Gispen produced some of the most iconic Dutch lighting and furniture of the mid-century era. Model 6332 is among the rarer examples from this period and seldom appears on the market, making it a true collector’s piece for those who appreciate the precision and elegance of Dutch modernist design. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
