This distinctive example features the characteristic Bunker shade mounted on an adjustable goose-neck stem and substantial circular cast-iron base. The flexible construction allows the lamp to be positioned at different heights and angles, making it both highly functional and visually sculptural.

This is an early version of the Bunker design, distinguished by the absence of ventilation slots in the bulb housing. The very light grey painted finish is complemented by the black plastic-covered flexible section of the goose-neck stem.

with its substantial cast-iron base, steel stem and adjustable shade, the lamp has a wonderfully robust yet refined Scandinavian Modern character.

Condition
Very good vintage condition with age-related signs of use and attractive patina.

About Jo Hammerborg
Jo Hammerborg (1920–1982) was one of Denmark's most important post-war lighting designers. Originally trained as a silversmith, he became head of design at Fog & Mørup in 1957 and remained there until 1980.

During his tenure he designed approximately 180 lamps and established a distinctive design language based on strong geometric forms, excellent proportions and carefully engineered functionality.

The Bunker is one of his most recognisable designs, produced in a variety of colours and sizes. The series was later expanded to include table and floor lamps.
