Robert Scott, upholstered in supple red leather with deep diamond button tufting across both the seat and the back. The overstuffed seat cushion is generously scaled and rolls at the front edge, giving the piece a plush, almost pillowed presence that's balanced by the taut, clean-lined back and the flared polished chrome legs. Construction quality is evident throughout — hand-executed tufting with covered buttons, tailored piping, and a fully finished back, meaning the chair floats beautifully in a room rather than needing to be pushed against a wall.

J. Robert Scott was founded in Los Angeles in 1972 by Sally Sirkin Lewis, an Interior Design Hall of Fame designer who was the first woman to open a showroom on Melrose Avenue in the West Hollywood design district. Lewis named the company after her children and built it around what she called "home couture" — furniture made by hand in the company's Inglewood, California factory, using couture-quality textiles and labor-intensive traditional techniques. Over her career she was awarded more than 150 U.S. design patents, and her work is credited with defining the California Design aesthetic. Sold exclusively to the trade through showrooms in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and London, J. Robert Scott pieces were specified by top interior designers for high-end residential, yacht, and aircraft interiors. See less
