Elegant vintage Chinese hanging scroll depicting a dramatic traditional mountain landscape rendered in atmospheric blue-gray, black and muted tones.
The vertical composition features towering mist-covered mountains overlooking a small settlement nestled among flowering trees and rocky terrain. Tiny figures dressed in vivid blue and red provide beautiful points of color and scale within the expansive landscape.
The artwork bears Chinese calligraphy accompanied by two traditional red seal marks. It is mounted within a finely patterned cream and pale-gold brocade surround and finished with substantial turned wooden roller ends.
The restrained palette and elongated format give the piece a sophisticated presence, making it particularly suited to Chinese, Chinoiserie, Asian-inspired, Traditional or collected interiors.
