A wonderfully whimsical vintage Haitian folk art painting by Monestime Astrel, depicting a fantastical jungle alive with exotic animals and lush tropical vegetation. A tiger, zebra, lion, giraffes and spotted cats wander through an impossibly dense forest filled with brilliantly colored foliage and fruit-bearing trees.
Astrel’s charming naïve approach gives the scene an almost dreamlike, storybook quality, with exaggerated animals, flattened perspective and an abundance of decorative detail. Saturated emerald greens, electric blue, vivid orange and warm red create an exceptionally lively palette.
