A striking vintage pedestal crafted from pencil-reed rattan applied over a sturdy wood structure. Dating to the 1970s, the stand features a slender vertically reeded column, stepped pyramidal base, and dramatically flared capital supporting a square geometric top.
The unusually deep brown finish sets this piece apart from the lighter, more commonly seen pencil-reed furniture of the period. Darkened recesses emphasize its rhythmic construction, giving the pedestal a sophisticated, architectural presence. The top is particularly appealing, with reeds arranged in four radiating triangular sections to create a graphic geometric pattern.
