Equivalence is an original geometric abstract oil painting by French artist Sophie Dumont. Curved forms and rectangular structures interlock around a central ivory shape, creating a compact composition driven by balance and movement.
Orange, muted pink, olive green, burgundy, ochre and midnight blue give each element a distinct presence. Although the forms differ in shape, scale and texture, none dominates the composition—each carries an equivalent visual weight.
Layered oil paint, scraped passages and irregular surfaces soften the geometric construction and bring a tactile quality to this intimate yet visually powerful work.
