Its circular … Read more This distinctive side table, produced in Europe around 1930, belongs to the reduced geometric vocabulary of interwar modernism.

Its circular walnut-veneered top rests on just two supports: a wide curved panel forming a half-cylinder, and a single vertical element in ebonised wood. The contrast between this enveloping volume and the strict, linear support creates an almost Constructivist silhouette.

The use of walnut alongside black wood, together with its composition of simple, clearly defined forms, recalls certain Dutch modernist explorations of the period, including those associated with Willem Penaat, without allowing for a specific attribution.

A rare and sculptural piece, ideal beside an armchair, as a bedside table or as a display pedestal.

Very good vintage condition. The top shows fine surface scratches and minor marks, visible under raking light or on close inspection—as shown in the final photograph—but discreet in normal lighting. Light old woodworm traces are present in places. Sound and stable structure.
