Impressive majolica plate, with a monumental diameter of 51 cm, entirely painted freehand, signed by the artist on the decoration and on the back "Fattiocco". The back also features the signature of the manufacturer "Antonietta Arte", a handwritten dedication by the artist quoting the sonnet in Roman numerals CCL(250) from Francesco Petrarca's Canzoniere, and the date "88", standing for 1988. The formal attribution points to the work of the atelier master Fattiocco, who executed the complex pictorial decoration in the workshops of the independent manufacturer "Antonietta Arte". The composition on the front depicts two naked, sinuous bodies captured in a dramatic, expressionist-inspired anatomical twist, floating against a background of acid green and ochre. The right perimeter features a thick, powerful cobalt blue field, which during firing has created a magnificent, dense network of vitreous craquelure with a mineral effect, typical of high-fired atelier majolica. The lower support base features a solid red clay mixture, finished with a ring-shaped foot that ensures the piece's structural stability despite its significant specific weight of over 2.2 kg.
